PEEWEE > Royals Edge Jays 9-8

THE MAJESTIC ROYALS SCORE IN THE FINAL INNING TO TOP THE BLUE BIRDS IN THE NIGHTCAP AT CHRISTIE PITS

Game Post by Gordon Belray.

It was a beautiful spring evening at Christie Pits for the Peewee Division season opener between the Jays and Royals.

The Jays struck early off of the Royals starter Angus (11) [2 K, 3 ER] in the top of the first, cashing in four runs on three hits to take an early 4-0 lead.

The Royals quickly answered back with four runs in the bottom of the first with John Lee (14) in the three spot knocking in three with a seeing eye home run.

Royals reliever Maxwell (13) held the Jays to three runs in the second after a towering home run shot to right by the Jays. Maxwell [1 K, 3 ER] worked out of the inning with a strikeout and a nice putout by shortstop John Lee.

With the Jays ahead 7-4, the Royals rallied once again for four runs in the bottom of the second with four hits and three walks. Julian (10) stroked a 2 RBI single and Harsha (12) delivered a RBI on double with two outs.

Jian (15) [1 K, 0 ER] of the Royals pitched brilliantly in the top of the third. But the Jays clawed for the tying run with a hit batter reaching home on a close play to the plate after an excellent backup at third by Royals shortstop Maxwell (13) on a wild throw on the steal to third.

In workmanlike fashion, the Royals ended the game on a walk off RBI single by Angus after two consecutive walks issued by the Jays.
