Beneath warm and sunny skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects defeated the Mississauga Majors 13-6 in six entertaining innings of play at Garnetwood Park South in their opening round robin game at the Forest Glen Tournament.

Trailing 6-2 after four innings, TP stormed back with passion and authority in the top of the fifth to score eight runs and take a 10-6 lead.

The Major Peewees offense received key hits during the frame from Owen (5) [2 RBI double]; Jack [RBI triple]; Max (17) [RBI single]; Cam (77) [RBI single]; and Sasha (28) [RBI single].

With TP reliever Jack holding Mississauga off the scoreboard during the final two innings, the Major Peewees would add three insurance runs in the top of the sixth to salt the victory away.

Here are some additional highlights:

  • TP starter Owen (5) pitched three strong innings against Mississauga where he surrendered only four runs to a potent Majors batting order and kept the Major Peewees within striking distance.
  • TP reliever Cam (77) tossed a solid fourth where he only gave up two Majors runs.
  • TP reliever Jack threw two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth to pick up the win.

The Major Peewee Selects (1-0) journey at the Forest Glen Tournament continues tomorrow (Saturday, June 21) afternoon with two more round robin games. TP will face West Mountain next at 4:00 p.m. at Fleetwood South. They will play against the Royal York (1) Cardinals at Fleetwood South at 8:30 p.m. in their final round robin game.
