FIRING ON ALL PISTONS, THE BOMBERS SHUTOUT TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under a canopy of serene skies, the Bloordale Bombers defeated our Toronto Playgrounds Minor Peewee Selects 14-0 in four innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Firing on all cylinders, Bloordale won the proceeding in dominating fashion from the first pitch to the final out.

Two Bloordale pitchers [starter Carter (19) and reliever Rhys (23)] combined to shutout the Minor Peewee offense while striking out eleven TP batters over the course of four innings.

Meanwhile, the Bombers offense generated fourteen hits to power their way to a convincing victory. Three of the hits were home runs. Kudos to Matthew (17) [inside the park round tripper to lead off the game]; Trevor (7) [a powerful blast over the left field fence to lead off the second]; and Reese (13) [solo shot over the left field fence in the third].

Here are some additional highlights:

  • Ethan (19) singled in the second and stole a base for the Minor Peewees.
  • TP first baseman Flynn (21) made a nice catch on a mile high pop up in the third inning and also fielded a sharply hit grounder for a putout at first.
  • TP right fielder Dylan (11) made a nice catch on a fly ball in the third. Dylan also caught a scorching liner while fielding at third in the fourth.

The Minor Peewees (1-5) continue their homestand next Wednesday (July 9) when they host the Royal York (1) Cardinals at Christie Pits Diamond 2 at 7:00 p.m.
