Under a blanket of warm and sunny skies, the Giants defeated the Reds 6-4 in 2 ½ innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here are the highlights:

  • The top of the first began with Giants starter Teddy (12) on fire as he struck out the side to keep the Reds off the scoring ledger.
  • The Mighty Giants jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Eric (8) started off with a walk and then Jamie (13) got on when he got hit by a pitch. The Griants then had two more walks by Sam (14) and Ethan R. (2) – that second walk also being an RBI for the first run. Aiden (3) then walked for an RBI. Then some agressive base running and a walk by Lucas (1) brought in two more runs.
  • In the top of the second, Giants pitcher Teddy went back to the mound and started off the same way as he ended the first – with a strike out. However, the Reds got some hits and got two runs in.
  • In the bottom of the second, the Giants had a couple walks by Gus (9) and Ethan F (6). After a strike out, Adam (10) and then Eric (8) walked. Jamie then got a single and the Giants plated two runs to take a 6-2 lead into the third.
  • In the top of the third, the Reds needed two runs to tie the game. However, the Giants sent in closer Jamie (13) and he managed to shutdown the side to seal the deal on the 6-4 win.
