THE DARLIN’ CUBBIES AND THE GO GO LIZZIES BATTLE TO A DRAW AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Post composed with file from Ted Sharp.
Under a ceiling of picturesque summer skies, the Cubs and Lizzies battled to a 6-6 tie in three innings of Mosquito Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
Here are some highlights:
- The Lizzies and Cubs squared off in a see-saw battle that ended in a 6-6 tie.
- Stars for the Lizzies included Joshren (no number), an eager Tee Ball call up playing Mosquito baseball for the first time. Joshren chipped in with a RBI single and a walk as well as throwing a Cub out at the plate.
- Daniel (4) drove in a run with a double and pitched a shut-out inning for the Lizzies.
- Sebastian (9) [one of three Sebastians playing for the Lizzies tonight] made a great throw to third and cashed in a run with a key single.
- The combination of tight defense and timely hitting on both sides made for an exciting contest.
- TP Umpire Taarak had a tough contest behind the plate as he was being beaned repeatedly by an assortment of foul balls and errant pitches by the Cubs and Lizzies.
