THE O’s BREAK A 6-6 LOGJAM WITH THE GO GO LIZZIES TO EMERGE WITH THE VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Post composed by Ryan Balot.
Beneath a canopy of warm and humid skies, the Orioles edged the Lizzies 7-6 in three fun innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here are the highlights:
-
The Lizzies pulled ahead 4-0 in the top of the first.
-
Lizzies starter Julia (11) pitched in the first and held the Orioles to two runs, supported by the excellent infield play of Hayden (6) and Adam.
-
The Oriole defense, led by first baseman Charley (4), made quick work of the Lizzies in the top of the second, limiting them to a scoreless inning.
-
The Orioles roared back in the bottom of the second and went up 6-4 after two innings.
-
In an exciting twist, the Lizzies then scored 2 runs in the top of the third to tie the score, fueled by the quick base running of Adam and by the team’s famously alert batting.
-
But the Orioles loaded the bases in the bottom of the third, when a would-be triple from Josh (14) brought home the winning run.
-
It was a characteristically fun evening for players, coaches, and parents on both sides.
