Beneath the lights on a warm summer’s night, the Jays defeated the Royals 9-5 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

JAYS GAME SUMMARY by Bob Garden.

The Jays had a great 9-5 four inning comeback victory over the Royals.

The Royals started strong by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning while holding the Jays scoreless in the top half. The Jays starting pitcher in the first inning was Adam (8).

In the bottom of the second inning, the Royals scored another run but the Jays were able to get on the board with an RBI single by Jackson (14) who scored Christian (10).  

Jays reliever Christian (10) struck out his first two batters in the second but the Royals still managed to score one run with some great base running.

The Royals kept their lead in the third inning with both teams again only scoring one run.  The Jays scored their one run after some great base running by Elena (3).  

Jays reliever Iliana (9) allowed only run in the bottom of the third.

Down 5-2 the Jays mounted a great comeback in the fourth. Leading off the frame, Jaleelah (6) would have struck out but she beat the throw to first base when the catcher dropped the third strike. Jaleelah would come into score to start the offensive surge. The Jays went on to score seven runs in the fourth with each member of the team contributing.

Jays closer Ben (11) took the mound in the bottom of the fourth and secured the win by striking out all three batters that he faced.

ROYALS GAME SUMMARY by Michael Goldsmith.

It was a rough night for the Royals who started strong, but fell flat in the fourth and final inning, dropping 9-5 decision to powerful Jays.  

Royals pitchers Cormac (8), Jian (15) and Rory (6) looked solid giving up only two runs over first three innings and Gian didn’t surrender a run.  

Finley (3) helped his pitchers the with some solid defensive play at third and caught a line drive while playing second base.  

Maxwell (13) led the Royals offense with another two RBI’s and bats were alive in a four run first inning.  

Things came off the rails when Royals coughed up seven runs in the fourth but they’ll look to rebound on Wednesday evening.
