BANTAM > White Sox Tame A’s 11-7

THE WHITE SOX PREVAIL OVER THE ATHLETICS TO WIN THEIR SECOND ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT GAME AT DOMINICO FIELD

SONY DSCGame Post composed with files from Alex Beauvais and Paul Kelly.

Under warm and humid skies, the White Sox defeated the A’s 11-7 in 3 ½ innings of Bantam Division Round Robin Tournament action this evening at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

Here are the highlights:

  • Leo hit a MONSTER double to power the White Sox attack.
  • White Sox closer Owen threw a scoreless top of the fourth to preserve the win.
  • In contrast to Wednesday’s 15-4 loss the Expos, the A’s played an improved round robin game this evening.
  • The top four in the A’s batting lineup [Evan (10) , Jack (8) , Jerome (3) and Sam (15)] went 2 for 2 on-base, with seven hits and a walk.
  • The Athletics were undone by sloppy defence, but not as sloppy as yesterday.
  • Big guns Sam and Jerome pitched three innings (Sam pitched first two), and did well enough to win, but didn’t get the run support.
  • In a postgame media scrum, A’s Head Coach Paul Kelly said it was a much-improved team today and we hope to continue in this direction as we head towards the elimination rounds of the tournament.
