With a forecast calling for sunny and beautiful skies for miles around, the 2015 Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball regular season is set to commence this evening (May 19) at Art Eggleton Park with four scheduled games in our ‘Tuesday’ Tee Ball Division.

Today’s games are taking on an extra special significance as they will be the first official regular season games played at our two new diamonds located at Art Eggleton Park.

CITY TV will be on hand at 5:15 p.m. to capture a ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate the new diamonds. They will also be sticking around to film a ‘Tee Ball Tuesday’ segment for their news broadcast. In addition, the paparazzi from the TP Baseball Website will also be on hand to capture the opening day festivities.

The Opening day of every baseball season is always special. With that in mind, the TP Baseball Committee is cordially inviting all the members of our of baseball fraternity to our third annual TP House League Baseball Season Opening Week Event on Saturday, May 23 at Christie Pits from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This fun filled  event is held to celebrate the commencement of the 2015 Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Season at Christie Pits, Bickford Park and Art Eggleton Park.

Here are some of the Opening Week Event highlights:

  • Assorted Baseball Skills Clinics (pitching, sliding & hitting) for players in our Rookie Ball, Mosquito and Peewee Divisions.

ALL participating TP players attending the Opening Week Event are encouraged to wear their uniforms so they can partake in a group photo that will be taken at Dominico Field (a.k.a. Diamond 1) at 11:00 a.m.

The Committee also wishes to remind Parents and Players of the procedure to follow if the weather is threatening and you’re not sure if your game or practice is proceeding as scheduled or cancelled.

On days of questionable weather, you can access information concerning the status of your game or practice by using:

  • The Hotline (416-392-1914, press prompt 4)
  • Twitter @TPbaseballnews
  • Website: www.tpbaseball.ca

Updated information regarding the status of your game or practice will be posted 45 minutes to one hour prior to the start time of your event.

It is the Committee’s prerogative to play as much baseball as possible. Please bear with us over the course of the long season as we try to “read the signs” that Mother Nature lobs at us. There will be times when we cancel games and practices and it will clear up and be beautiful an hour or so later; and there will be times when we leave games and practices on and then it starts to rain a few minutes in. On the whole, this is the best system with which to provide the most baseball to the most families in the most convenient way.

We’re all looking forward to a great 2015 season…LET’S PLAY BALL!
