PEEWEE > Lizzies Top Giants 7-2

THE GO GO LIZZIES NEUTRALIZE THE MIGHTY GIANTS TO WIN THEIR PEEWEE DIVISION SEASON OPENER UNDER THE LIGHTS AT CHRISTIE PITS

Game Post composed with file from Paul Bagnell.

Under the incandescent lights on a warm Spring night, the Lizzies defeated the Giants in four innings at Christie Pits Diamond 2 to win their Peewee Division season opener.

Here are the highlights:

  • Despite finishing short on the scoreboard, there was lots for Giants fans to applaud about during the game.
  • Giants starter Will threw three straight strikeouts to get the game started, and the big righty looks set for another strong season on the mound.
  • Piper scored the first Giants run of the 2015 season by getting on base on a walk and then stealing his way around to third before being brought home on a RBI sacrifice groundout by Curtis.
  • Giants reliever Curtis took the mound in the top of the second and held the Lizzies to two runs whilestriking out one batter.
  • Giants first baseman Sam helped the cause by scooping up a grounder and registering an unassisted out at first base in the second.
  • The Giants bats went silent in the bottom of the second, with a three-up, three-down inning.
  • Reliever Piper pitched the third inning for the Giants and registered his first strikeout of the year.
  • Once again, Sam put his defensive skills on display, nicely scooping up a ground and making the throw to Cameron at first.
  • Giants reliever Nigel was the hurler in the top of the fourth and notched his first strikeout of the year.
  • Nigel and first baseman Piper combined for a beautiful pickoff play at first base.
