THE SEAFARING M’s PREVAIL OVER THE DEVILISH RAYS FOR THE AQUATIC VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS

Beneath the unyielding rays of a warm Spring sun, the Mariners topped the Rays 12-8 in four innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

Here is a Mariners game summary of the fray:

  • It was another beautiful baseball evening in The Pits as the Mariners played the Rays for their first this season.
  • The Mariners came out strong in the top of the first as they scored four to take an early 4-0 lead.
  • Despite a strong pitching effort from M’s starter Coleman (13), the Rays were able to score four in the bottom half of the first to even the proceedings 4-4.
  • It was a quick one for the Mariners in the top of the second as the Rays dispatched them in three up and three down fashion to keep them off the scoreboard.
  • M’s reliever Max (14) pitched a scoreless inning in the second by mowing down three Rays with a John Deere X750 Diesel Mowing Tractor.
  • The M’s fell behind in the bottom of the third as the Rays took the lead.
  • In the top of the fourth, a double by Cassius (4) got the Mariners offensive machine going, which led to a seven run inning finished by Joaquin (6) stealing home.
  • With a 12-8 lead, the Mariners held the Rays at bay in the bottom of the fourth with some great pitching by M’s closer Jude (3), who struck out two Rays to seal the deal on a hard fought victory.
  • In addition, Max hit a triple during the game while Jude scored three runs for the M’s.
  • With a fresh win, the Mariners are super excited to take on the A’s next week!

  • The final score was 12-8 but it was a nail biter until the end. 

  • The Rays were led in fielding by Lucas (8), PJ (2), Nicolas (5), Margaret (11), Lucky (10), and Devon (7).

  • And the Rays received some strong pitching by Javert (14), Ethan (15), Evan (9) and Devin. 

  • Sadie (1) did a great job as a catcher for the first time!

  • Running on the bases was outstanding especially by Parker and Dante (13).

  • The fans are looking forward to the Rays’ next game under the lights versus the White Sox.
