IN A WELL PLAYED AFFAIR UNDER THE LIGHTS, THE ROYALS AND WHITE SOX BATTLE TO A DRAW AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Post composed with file from Vincent Lynch
Under the lights on a quaint Spring night, the Royals and White Sox played to a 4-4 tie in four innings of Mosquito Division action tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Royals summary of the proceedings:
- Royals starter Lewis (11) took the mound in the top of the first and pitched a clean inning with two strike outs.
- In the bottom of the first, the Royals took a 3-0 lead. It started with leadoff hitter James (6) getting a triple. He was plated with an RBI single by Cal (13). Then there were three walks and some agressive base running that brought in Cal and Mekai (14).
- Royals reliever Jackson (8) came in the fray in the top of the second and threw a scoreless inning to maintain the 3-0 lead.
- The game would stay at that score for the next two innings with some excellent pitching from both teams. The White Sox struck out five out of the next six Royals batters, with only Koenoa (3) getting a double and Royals reliever Koenoa striking out the side.
- However, in the top of the fourth, the White Sox bats came alive as they put up four runs off of Royals relievers Zev (7) and Jackson (8) before Lewis was reactivated to put out the fire with three consecutive strike outs to subdue the Sox rally.
- Being the home team, the Royals had one last crack at the plate in the bottom of the fourth. Cal got it started with a single. Parker (10) then reached first after being hit by a pitch. Then Mekai (14) got a clutch game tying RBI single.
- But the Royals rally stopped there as White Sox defense gunned down a Royals runner on the base paths and their bullpen managed a couple strike outs to quell the Royals insurgency.
- A well fought battle that ended in a 4-4 tie.
