Under a blanket of warm summer skies, the Jays edged the Royals 13-12 in four innings of Mosquito Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

Here is a Jays account of the proceedings:

  • In an epic battle to the finish, the Jays pitchers, led by Luz (5) thwarted the Royals.

  • Camille (14), Luz, and Genevieve (10) pitched the first three innings for the Jays.

  • Luz held the Royals to just one run, aided by a play at the plate, and forcing a double play turned by a heads up Theo (2) who tagged the runner going to second and beat the batter to the bag to end the inning.

  • Jays closer Noah (9) cleaned up the bottom of the fourth to end the game with three strikeouts.

  • Joshua (3) had 2 hits and a walk, and three RBI’s. 

  • Vincent (7) had a pair of doubles and two RBI’s.

  • Genevieve drew a full count walk to lead off the the top of the fourth to spark the Jays rally.

  • The Jays eventually scored just enough runs to win the game (capped by Joshua’s grace under pressure two RBI single).

  • The Royals were down 13-8 in the final inning and made a valiant comeback bid that came up just short.
