Under a canopy of hazy and humid skies, the Mets and Lizzies played to a 6-6 tie in three innings of Peewee Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here is a Mets account of the proceedings:

  • The Mets-Lizzies game was a defensive struggle and ended in a tie (6-6) after three long innings.
  • New players, including Michael and Javert, who played without a proper jersey or number in their first game, hit RBIs in the first inning to drive in game-changing runs.
  • Over the course of the contest, the duelling pitchers (including Mets’ pitchers Michael (10), Spencer (8), and Rory (4)) strictly limited the Lizzies hitting, while the Mets’ infield made a strong showing behind the leadership of Evan (13) and Niall (3), who threw out a base runner in an exciting play at third base in the bottom of the second.
  • Rory (4), our closer, held the Lizzies to a short final inning in the bottom of the third, with ace pitching and a clean throw to Niall (3) at first for the final out.
  • The Mets benefited from the swift hands and alertness of Joseph (9) at catcher and from the strong infield play of Manny (15) and Michael (5).
