THE FEISTY RIVERDOGS TAKE A BITE OUT OF TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT SMYTHE PARK
Game Post composed with file from Paul Kelly
Under a blanket of hazy and humid summer skies, the York Riverdogs defeated our Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Selects 8-3 in 5 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select Loop action this evening at Smythe Park.
Here are some highlights:
- TP had shaky start and finish defensively.
- In between, TP starter Jamie (52) pitched well for three innings from the second on.
- And the TP bats were not very effective at all against the York pitching corp— only three hits…all singles delivered by Max (20), Solly (27) and Lucas. Solly’s lead-off in the top of the second was the most impressive.
- York had a 4-2 lead after one inning.
- The Riverdogs scored two in the third and added another two in the fifth.
The TP Mosquito Selects (6-3) continue their EBA Select Loop regular season with a doubleheader at Rotary Park against the Royal York Cardinals on Sunday, July 19. Game One is at 3:30 p.m. and Game Two is at 6:00 p.m.
