FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS, THE WHITE SOX CAGE THE BLUEBIRDS AT BICKFORD PARK
Beneath a picturesque layer of warm summer skies, the White Sox defeated the Jays 13-4 in four innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Bickford Park.In a fun and entertaining affair between two talented and well coached teams, the White Sox made the most of their opportunities to build upon a lead and utilized some strong pitching and solid defensive play to stymie the Jays and prevail for the victory.
The White Sox jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After Rafi (9) walked and Solly (14) doubled to open the inning, Kingsley (1) delivered a 2 RBI single to bring them home to roost.
Jays starter Luz (5) would strike out one during the frame to subdue the White Sox insurrection.
With authority, White Sox starter Solly (14) struck out three in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the first to keep the Jays in the nest and off the scoreboard.
In the top of the second, the White Sox offense exploded for four to stretch their lead to 6-0. After Jayden (8) singled and Liam (13) walked to lead off the inning, both would subsequently come around to score on a Jays wild pitch and error.
After a walk by Rafi and a single by Solly, Kingsley drew a walk to load the bases. Michael followed with a one out bases loaded RBI walk to plate Rafi. Liam (12) stepped up next and delivered a RBI single to bring Solly home.
In a spirited effort on the hill, Jays reliever Lucas (1) struck out one during the inning.
With a little defensive help from his friends, White Sox southpaw reliever Rafi (9) struck out one in the bottom of the second to keep the Jays off the scoresheet.
The White Sox tacked on another three in the top of the third to widen their advantage to 9-0. With two outs and the bases loaded, Justin (11) drew a RBI walk to plate Jayden. Michael followed with a RBI single to deliver Rafi home.
With the bases still juiced to the gills, a Jays wild pitch would open the door for Solly to blaze home from third with another run.
Jays reliever Ibrahim (8) would strike out three in the third to quell the White Sox rebellion.
With their backs to the wall in the bottom of the third, the Jays offense took flight as they scored four to trim the deficit to five. After Matthew (11) and Genevieve (10) drew back to back walks to lead off the inning to put runners at second and first, the Jays executed a double steal. An ensuing White Sox error during the play would allow Matthew to motor home from third with the Jays first run of the game.
After a pair of singles by Andre (6) and Vincent (7) loaded the bases, Ernesto (15) powered a clutch 2 RBI double to bring Genevieve and Andre home to roost. Vincent would follow with a brazen grand theft steal of home to score the Jays final run of the third.
In a spirited effort on the mound, White Sox reliever Kingley (1) struck out one during the inning.
However, the White Sox answered back with four insurance runs in the top of the fourth to widen their lead to 13-4. After Jayden, Liam and Rafi drew consecutive walks to lead off the inning and load the bases, Jayden would safely steal home.
Solly would follow with a RBI double that delivered Liam home. After Kingsley drew a walk to reload the bases, Jusin and Michael would follow with back to back RBI walks that allowed Rafi and Solly to saunter homeward.
With true grit, Jays reliever James (13) put in a determined effort on the mound in the fourth.
In 1-2-3 fashion, White Sox closer Solly would mow down three in the bottom of the fourth with a John Deere X754 Diesel Mowing Tractor to keep the Jays off the scoreboard and seal the deal on the victory.
