FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS, THE ATHLETICS HANG DRY THE WHITE SOX AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Post composed with files from R.J. Caravaggio and Scott Greene
Beneath a thick layer of hazy and humid midsummer skies, the A’s defeated the White Sox 9-0 in three innings of Mosquito Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
Here is an Athletics summary of the game:
- The A’s jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After Nathan (13) and Stefano (9) reach base on a pair of walks, Charlie (7) hits into a fielder’s choice that scores Nathan. However, Stefano is called out at home for failing to slide ay home on the play.
- After loading the bases, A’s starter Owen (10) finds the groove and strikes out three to retire the side and leave the bases stranded with White Sox.
- In the top of the second, Vincent [on loan from Jays] hits lead off single and then steals three bases to score a run. The A’s garner consecutive walks that score two more runs. At bat again, Vincent delivers a RBI hit to score the A’s fourth run of the inning to put the A’s up 5-0.
- A’s reliever Charlie (7) throws nothing but heat as he strikes out three to keep the White Sox off the basepaths and the scoreboard.
- After Michael [on loan from the Rookie Ball Division affiliate] leads off the top of the third with a walk, James [on loan from Jays] hits a RBI double that brings Michael home to roost. Consecutive walks by the A’s score two more runs. At bat again, Michael strokes a RBI single to cash in the fourth run of the frame.
- A’s closer Nathan (13) strikes out three in the bottom of the third to cap off a stellar pitching night for the A’s!
