THE GO GO LIZZIES REIGN IN THE ATHLETICS TO PREVAIL FOR THE VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under a canopy of warm summer skies, the Lizzies defeated the A’s 6-2 in four innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Lizzies account of the proceedings:
- Dajuan (7) led off the top of the first with a walk. With one out, Dajuan (7) stole second base. After Luca C. (14) got on base with a walk, Kazuo (10) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. However, the Lizzies were unable to cash in the base runners as the A’s starting pitcher struck out Dylan (8) and Sebastian (2) to leave the bases stranded.
- In the bottom of the first, Lizzies starter Julian (5) made his second start of the season was able to hold the A’s to one run while striking out two.
- After Julian and Erick led off the top of second with back to back walks, the Lizzies were able to pull of the double steal that put runners at second and third. Liam stroked a RBI double that brought both Julian and Erick home and give the Lizzies a 2-1 lead. Subsequently, the Lizzies were able to load the bases again on back to back walks to Dajuan and Cameron (6). Luca C. garnered a RBI walk that brought Liam home. The four run inning was capped off with a RBI sacrifice ground out by Kazuo that delivered Dajuan home and give the Go Go Lizzies a 4-1 lead.
- Lizzies reliever Kazou (10) pitched a near flawless bottom of the second as he held the A’s off the scoreboard while giving up a walk and striking out three Athletics batters in the process to preserve the three run lead.
- Exercising patience at the dish in the top of the third, the Lizzies were able to get the bases loaded with no outs on walks to Julian, Erick and Liam. Once again, the A’s bullpen stymied the Lizzies by striking out the next three batters and leaving the bases stranded.
- Lizzies reliever Dylan (8) had little shaky start in the bottom of the third when he surrendered a run that allowed the A’s to trim the deficit to two. However, Dylan found his groove and he was able to hold the A’s at bay the rest of the way while striking out three batters.
- The Lizzies tacked on two insurance runs in the top of the fourth to widen their lead to 6-2. The inning started with Dylan getting on base with a walk. With one out, Cameron (6) singled. After Dylan stole third. Luca C. drove him home with a RBI single. After Cameron stole third, Kazuo cashed him in with a RBI ground out.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Dylan closed out the game and preserved the win for the Lizzies by holding the pesky A’s off the scoreboard.
