IN A NAIL BITER, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE CARDINALS AT CARMEN BUSH TO STAY ALIVE AT THE EBA PEEWEE SELECT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

Under a ceiling of warm and sunny midsummer skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Selects edged the Royal York (2) Cardinals 7-6 this morning at Carmen Bush to win their first playoff elimination game at the 2015 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Championship Tournament.

Here are some highlights:

  • TP starter Aaron (54) was solid in holding the Cardinals at bay.
  • TP reliever Quinn (13) pitched in with a strong relief effort.
  • Harris (12) delivered the game winning RBI that allowed Nigel (20) to come home to roost.
  • In the final inning, TP first baseman Alden (7) made some spectacular defensive gems at first to seal the deal on the TP win.

Each team participating in this season’s EBA Peewee Select Championship Tournament is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from the tourney once they have lost two playoff elimination games.

With the win over Royal York (2), Toronto Playgrounds square their record at 1-1. The TP Peewee Selects showed grit and determination as they bounced back from a Friday evening 15-1 loss to the Martingrove White Sox and staved off elimination from the tourney.

TP will face either the Annette A’s or Royal York (1) Cardinals in their next playoff elimination game later this Saturday (August 15) afternoon at Carmen Bush at 1:30 p.m.
