Beneath a ceiling of warm and hazy skies, the Annette A’s edged our Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Selects 14-13 in a thrilling extra innings playoff elimination game this afternoon at the 2015 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Championship Tournament.

In a do or die game for both teams, the A’s eventually prevailed for the victory over TP in an amazing game at Carmen Bush. Both teams gave it their all to stay alive at the tournament and left everything on the field of play.

With the defeat to Annette, Toronto Playgrounds (1-2) suffered its second loss at the playoff tournament and is officially eliminated from further championship play.

Each team participating in this season’s EBA Peewee Select Championship Tournament is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from the tourney once they have lost two playoff elimination games.

Early this morning, Toronto Playgrounds had squared their record at 1-1 with a gritty 7-6 win over the Royal York (2) Cardinals at Carmen Bush. The TP Peewee Selects showed focus and determination as they bounced back from a rough Friday evening 15-1 loss to the Martingrove White Sox to open the tourney.

The TP Peewee Selects had a fun season of baseball where they finished the 2015 EBA Select Loop campaign with a 5-7 regular season record.

In addition, the TP Peewee Selects had a great time at the BMBI Tournament back in May and the Forest Glen Tournament in June.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to thank Peewee Select Head Coach Bill Evans; Assistant Coaches Ali Alzaidi; John Hill; Darin Luscher, and Joe Sala for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Peewee Selects through the highs and lows of a fun and productive 2015 season.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the Peewee Select players, coaches and parents for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism on and off the diamond at the tournament and throughout the long season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
