Beneath a blanket of hot and humid skies, the Giants topped the Rockies 4-2 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at the Bickford Park diamond.

The proceeding was a taut and well played affair where the defenses and pitching of both teams came to forefront and dominated the game and any runs scored came at a premium. The bullpens of the Giants and Rockies shone as they combined for thirteen strikeouts over the course of four frames.

The Giants jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After a lead off single, Will (13) stole a pair of bases to advance to third. Will would motor home with the opening run of the game on a Rockies error.

Rockies starter Charlie (4) would strike out three in the top of the first to quell the Giants attack.

In the bottom of the first, the Rockies would answer with a run to tie the game 1-1. After a two out double, Matthew (10) would steal third and come home to roost on a passed ball by the Giants.

With a little help from his friends, Giants starter Will (13) would extinguish the Rockies rebellion in the first.

The Giants would reply with two in the top of the second to take a 3-1 lead. After drawing a lead off walk. Emilie (8) would swipe two bases to reach third. Emilie would blaze home with the go ahead run on a one out dropped third strike to Thor (12), who was retired at first on the play.

Rockies reliever Teddy (12) would strike out one to douse the Giants insurgency in the second.

Teddy was also helped out by a nice defensive play on an eight mile high fly ball off the bat of Jonah (15) by centre fielder Charlie, who battled the glare to make a nifty catch for the first out of the frame.

The Rockies would battle back with one in the bottom of the second to trim the deficit to one. After leading off the inning with a single, Adi (1) turned on the jets and stole a pair of bases to set up residence on third. Charlie would deliver a one out sacrifice hit to plate Adi.

Giants reliever Jonah (15) would strike out two in the second to stymie the Rockies offensive thrust.
