THE 2015 TP HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT ROLLS ON WITH FIVE GAMES THIS EVENING AT CHRISTIE PITS AND BICKFORD PARK
With another four games completed yesterday evening, the baseball freight train affectionately dubbed ‘September Madness’ continues to roll along at high speed.
Upwards of 61 games are scheduled to be played within the next twelve day span of the tournament (weather permitting, of course). With the completion of four more games yesterday, there are still 53 left to be played.
The 2015 edition of the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Tournament continues this evening with five more games in our respective Mosquito, Peewee and Midget divisions.
Here are the four games on deck for Thursday, September 10:
MOSQUITO DIVISION
- 5:45 p.m. > Royals @ Lizzies [Christie Diamond 3]
- 5:45 p.m. > Angels @ Rays [Bickford Park]
PEEWEE DIVISION
- 6:00 p.m. > Expos @ Pirates [Christie Diamond 2]
- 7:45 p.m. > Mets @ Rockies [Christie Diamond 2]
MIDGET DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (Best 4 out of 7)
- 8:00 p.m. > Crawfords @ Homesteads [Christie Diamond 1/Dominico Field]
Players, Parents and Coaches are strongly advised to check your tournament schedule carefully for the dates and times of your team’s games. It is very important that we start all games at the start time listed on the schedule…please try to be at the diamond at least 15-30 minutes before the start time to give the coaches a chance to get the line ups organized.
Also, it is really important, given that the sun sets earlier and diamond 3 has no lights, and that we have a second game scheduled on diamond 2 each night, that players and coaches are ready to go at the time indicated on the schedule. Games scheduled for 5:45 p.m. will have to start at 5:45 p.m. regardless of how many players are present.
Because we really want to wrap up the tournament by the end of the second full week of September, we will play in conditions of light rain that might have caused us to cancel regular season games. So don’t assume a game is cancelled because of rain. On days of questionable weather, Players and Parents are strongly advised to check the our Twitter feed, the Hotline [(416) 392-1914], or website if the weather is suspect for updates on the status of their games. Updates will be posted 45-60 minutes prior to the official game time.
The annual tournament to wrap up the season is baseball lover’s delight with a cornucopia of games from four age divisions being played over four diamonds at Christie Pits and Bickford Park.
Updated scores and standings will be posted on our website after the conclusion of play each and every night. Game Reports (when available) will be posted the next day.
Additionally, people can also keep up to date with all the scores and important news via our Twitter feed @TPbaseballnews during the tournament. One can also keep up with the scores and standings at the park by viewing our information bulletin board at Christie Pits during the week.
And on the busy weekend of the tourney when 34 games are scheduled to be played, Parents and Players can keep tabs on the tournament by visiting the TP Tournament Scoreboard at the park for the latest updated scores and standings.
There are only 53 games remaining in the wild bungee jump that is ‘September Madness’. Jump on board before you miss the freefall of a lifetime.
