WITH MOTHER NATURE’S COOPERATION, THE BARBECUE LUNCH FOR PLAYERS AND COACHES PARTICIPATING IN OUR END OF SEASON ‘SEPTEMBER MADNESS’ TOURNEY IS ON DECK FOR THIS SUNDAY AT CHRISTIE PITS
UPDATE: Rain has forced the cancellation of the Sunday BBQ Lunch Event.
The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee has released a revised lunch schedule for the teams participating in our end of season “September Madness’ Tournament.
Barring another rainout, the BBQ lunch for all of our participating players and coaches will take place on Sunday, September 13 at Christie Pits. Each player and coach will receive a free lunch consisting of a hot dog (meat or veggie), bag of chips, and a juice box.
Food and drinks will also be available for sale at our TP Baseball BBQ Zone to parents, siblings, friends, and other fans.
Here is the revised ‘September Madness’ Team Lunch Schedule:
Sunday, September 13
- 11:00 a.m. > Mariners, Rays, Royals and White Sox
- 12:00 noon > Expos and Giants
- 12:15 p.m. > Mosquito Lizzies and Jays
- 12:30 p.m. > Angels and A’s
- 2:00 p.m. > Rockies
- Mets, Peewee Lizzies, and Pirates players can drop by the BBQ anytime (in uniform of course) and get their free lunch.
For the team orders, we are asking one or two of the coaches (or parents) to come to the TP BBQ Zone and pick up the lunches for everyone and take them back to the group. We don’t want all of the players approaching the BBQ individually…it becomes much too crowded.
The Committee will be providing the coaches with a lunch order sheet on which they can write how many meat and veggie hot dogs they’ll need for their team order (one for each player and coach). A volunteer helping with the BBQ will be coming around to collect the lunch order sheets from coaches. If your team is coming from playing a game at the Bickford diamond, one of the coaches can give the sheet to someone at the BBQ Zone when you arrive at Christie Pits.
Now, for all this to work as smoothly as we’d like, we’ll also need some volunteers to help prepare the food and organize the team lunches, as well as selling lunches to everyone else. So, if you’re available for an hour or two (obviously not when your child is playing) to help out, please please contact us at tpbaseball@gmail.com.
