THE GRITTY METROPOLITANS PREVAIL OVER THE MIGHTY GIANTS IN GRAND FASHION TO ADVANCE TO A SEMI-FINAL SHOWDOWN AGAINST THE EXPOS

With their victory, the Mets (4) will face the Expos (2) in a 7:45 p.m. Peewee Division Semi-final game on Wednesday (September 16) evening at Diamond 2.
The proceeding was a tight and well played affair contested by two gifted and well coached teams. Both bullpens combined for a total of sixteen strikeouts. In the end, the Metropolitans made the most of the offensive opportunities presented to them during the game to prevail for the elimination game victory.
Here are the highlights:
- The Giants threatened by putting two runners on base in the top of the first. However, Mets starter Niall (3) struck out two to keep the Giants off the scoresheet.
- Niall also combined with second baseman Spencer (8) on a nifty 1-4 putout on fielder’s choice to chalk up the second out of the inning.
- In the bottom of the second, the Mets would jump out to a 1-0 lead after Rory (4) stole home.
- With the bases loaded, Giants starter Nigel (14) would strike out two in the bottom of the first to quell the Mets insurgency.
- Niall fanned two in the top of the second to keep the Giants off the scoring ledger.
- The Mets offense would explode for four in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead. After a lead off double, Joseph (9) would steal third and come home to roost on a Giants error.
- After Spencer (8), Mikey (6) and Quinn (14) garnered a series of walks to load the bases, Michael (5) would launch a grace under pressure two out bases clearing 3 RBI triple OVER the Dominico Field chained linked fence in left field. Nevertheless, Michael was presented with the game ball (autographed by his adoring Mets coaches and teammates) that he launched into Diamond 1 after the game as a momento of his achievement. - The Giants offense stirred to life in the top of the third as they scored four to slice the deficit to one. After a lead off walk, Thor (12) would steal second. An ensuing Mets error on the play allowed Thor to motor all the way home to plate the Giants first run.
- After a double by Cameron (3) and a walk by Aidan (10) put two ducks on the pond, Curtis stroked a 2 RBI single to bring them home. Will (13) followed with a RBI double to bring Curtis home.
- In the bottom of the third, the Mets would tack on an insurance run to widen their lead to 6-4. After a lead off single, Niall would swipe a pair of bases to reach third. Aiden (12) followed with a RBI single to plate Niall.
- With the bases loaded, Giants reliever Will (13) would strike out three in the third to subdue the Mets uprising.
- Mets reliever Quinn (14) would strike out one in the top of the fourth to keep the Giants off the scoring ledger.
- First baseman Hayden (2) combined with third baseman Rory on a sweet 3-5 putout at third base to ring up the first out of the inning.
- Nigel would strike out two in the bottom of the fourth to keep the Metropolitans off the scoring abacus and their champagne glasses empty.
- Refusing to surrender, the Giants put two runners on base in the top of the fifth in a comeback bid. However, Mets closer Hayden (2) would mow down three Giants with a John Deere D105 17.5-HP Single-Cylinder Automatic 42-in Lawn Tractor to seal the deal on their elimination playoff win over the pesky Giants.
