TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS SPLIT THEIR TWO ROUND ROBIN GAMES ON SATURDAY TO FINISH 1-2 AT BRAMPTON MINOR BASEBALL INCORPORATED (BMBI) TOURNEY
Game Post composed with file from Bill Evans
Under a thick blanket of hot and hazy skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects split their two remaining round robin games earlier today at the Brampton Minor Baseball Incorporated (BMBI) Select Tournament to finish with an overall 1-2 record at the weekend tourney.
As a result, under the knockout formula rules governing the tourney, TP was eliminated from further play and not eligible to advance to the playoff elimination portion of the BMBI tourney.
After a tight 5-2 loss to the Orangeville Bengals on Friday evening, Toronto Playgrounds was hoping to stave off elimination early this morning in a round robin game against the Royal York Cardinals at Sesquicentennial Park. In a tooth and nail battle royale, the Cardinals edged TP 10-9 in a walk off thriller.
Subsequently, TP rebounded in gritty fashion with a convincing 10-3 victory over North York in their third and final round robin game.
After a few days off, the TP Major Peewee Selects [3-0 EBA record] will resume play on the EBA Select circuit when they host to the Ranger Girls on Wednesday, June 1 at Christie Pits Diamond 2 at 6:30 p.m.
