UNDER A BLANKET OF WARM AND HUMID SUMMER SKIES, THE FORTY TEAMS IN OUR TEE BALL DIVISION ENDED THEIR 2016 SEASON WITH A CELEBRATION DAY TO REMEMBER
Beneath a ceiling of warm and humid summer skies today at Christie Pits, the forty teams in our Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Tee Ball Division ended their 2016 season with a Celebration Day to remember.
Several hundred of our Junior and Senior Tee Ball Division players were in attendance at Saturday’s Tee Ball Celebration Day festivities.
There was a magical crackle in the air as the first series of games commenced at 10:00 a.m. this morning at Christie Pits Diamonds 2 and 3. The baselines on each diamond were lined with chalk. There were the announcements of each player’s name over the public address sound system before every player’s at bat during the game. The superb hitting and defensive prowess of the players on the diamond. The excited chatter and buzz of the parents, family and friends sitting in the bleacher seats and on the grass. The unmistakable smell of meat and veggie hot dogs grilling on the barbecue. An opportunity for players who missed our Photo Day Event to have their picture taken. A special trophy and photo presentation to each player after each game concluded.
Simply put…a marvellous time was had by one and all at the ballpark.
The TP House League Baseball Committee would like to thank all the parents who stepped up to the plate during 2016 season to help coach their respective Tee Ball house league teams. One of the backbones of the TP Baseball organization is its volunteers who go the extra mile to make each season so special for the players that have the love and passion to play ball.
The Committee would also like to extend a special thanks to Mike Zimmerman, Joel Scott, Quinn Boswell, Markus Tralla, Flynn O’Dacre for volunteering their time in umpiring the numerous Tee Ball Division games this past season at Art Eggleton Park.
And a special thanks also to Steve Smith, Carolyn Murphy [a.k.a. the ‘TP Baseball Barbecue Queen’], Jenny Foster, Jeff Kolyn, Paul Hum, Joel Scott, Quinn Boswell, Markus Tralla, and all our of volunteers for making today’s Tee Ball Celebration Day event and barbecue the success that it was.
We look forward to seeing you back on the field of dreams in 2017.
