THE GRITTY ATHLETICS PREVAIL OVER THE DEVILISH RAYS AT CHRISTIE PITS

SONY DSCBeneath a warm and muggy layer of summer skies, the A’s defeated the Rays 6-3 in 3 ½ innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here are the highlights:

  • Pitching and defense dominated the first 1 ½ innings as neither team could score.
  • In the bottom of the second, the A’s broke the goose egg as they staked themselves to a 3-0 lead. Noah (4), Wolf (1) and Riley (5) came home to shimmy, shimmy shake.
  • The Rays answered with three in the top of the third to tie the proceedings. Graham (15), Maya (10) and Jordan (14) came home to watusi.
  • However, the Athletics replied with three in the bottom of the third to retake the lead 6-3. Jonas (8), J-O (15) and Alex (10) came home to do the jitterbug.
  • The Rays threatened by loading the bases in the top of the fourth. However, the A’s struck out three to extinguish the rally bid and seal the deal.
