THE INTERGALACTIC ASTROS PREVAIL OVER THE HALOS IN A NAIL BITER AT CHRISTIE PITS
Tournament Game Summary edited with files from Matthew Scuby and Michael GoldsmithBeneath a ceiling of hot and muggy summer skies, the Astros edged the Angels 9-8 in four riveting innings of Mosquito Division round robin tournament action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Astros log of the game:
- With the game deadlocked 8-8 and a base runner aboard, Stephen (1) delivered a clutch RBI double in the top of the fourth to bring Sebastian (4) home with the go ahead run.
- After allowing an Angel to reach base, Astros closer Luca (14) struck out the side in the bottom of the fourth to seal the deal.
- Kudos to Sam (5) who made two spectacular defensive plays at first base in the third inning to rob the Angels of a couple of runs.
Here is an Angels account of the proceedings:
- Superb umpiring and an enthusiastic crowd added to the Mosquito Division playoff atmosphere at Diamond 2.
- Neither extreme heat or threatening skies could not dampen the spirits of the Astros and Halos players, who did their utmost to not let fans down.
- Dante (12), Jonas (9), James (10) and Elliot (13) combined to pitch four strong innings for the Angels.
- Evan (1) made nice out at second base in first inning and combined with Elliot to nail an Astros baserunner at home in the fourth to keep score close.
- Jonas led the Halos attack with two towering triples?.
- Elliot continued his fine season at the plate with a double.
- And all of the Halos hustled during the round robin game, but could not keep the fine Astros from a solid victory.
