The proceeding between two talented and well coached teams unfolded in a slow and methodical fashion. In the end, the shorthanded Orioles [who only had seven players in their lineup] utilized a solid bullpen to stymie the Lizzies offense, which gave them an opportunity to rally back and take the prize.

In the top of the first inning, the Lizzies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. After Mason (4) led off the frame with a walk, Liam (14) doubled and Kaden (9) singled to load the bases. K.J. (2) followed and hit into a fielder’s choice that moved Kaden to second, erased Liam at third, and allowed Mason to come home with the opening run of the game.

With one out, Kaden would steal third and come home on an error.

Following a pair of walks to Arman (1) and Jeremy (3) that reloaded the bases, Finn (6) would hit into a fielder’s choice that erased Arman at third and allowed K.J. to scoot home with another run.

In a spirited foray on the hill, Orioles starter Alejandro (8) retired two Lizzies on a pair groundouts in the top half of the first.

Orioles reliever Justin (3) kept the Lizzies off the scoreboard in the second inning by striking out two.

Orioles reliever Justin (3) would induce a 6-4 groundout and strike out two in the top of the second to keep the Lizzies off the scoring ledger.

In the bottom of the second, the O’s would rally with a pair to deadlock the proceeding. Following a lead off walk and a stolen base by Rhys (6), Duncan (10) powered a RBI triple that delivered Rhys home and make it a one run affair. A subsequent faux pas by the Lizzies would open the portal for Duncan to motor home with the tying run.

With the bases loaded, Lizzies reliever Finn (6) would strike out two in the second frame to extinguish the Orioles insurrection.

The inning was also highlighted by a nice 7-2 putout by the Lizzies defense. After Julian (4) of the O’s slid into third on steal, the throw to nab him sailed into left field. As Julian bolted homeward, Lizzies left fielder Dash (8) retrieved the ball and made a rocket throw into the mitt of catcher Cassius (5), who tagged out a sliding Julian in a chitty chitty bang bang play at home plate to thwart his bid to come home and ring up the second out.

In 1-2-3 fashion, Orioles reliever Julian (4) would strike out three in the top of the third to keep the Lizzies at bay.

Exercising patience at the dish, the Orioles would feast upon a Mandarin buffet serving of five walks in the bottom of the third to take a 6-3 lead. After Alejandro, Duncan and Julian garnered consecutive walks to lead off the inning and load the bases, Matthew (9) and Oscar (1) would follow with respective RBI walks to bring home Alejandro and Duncan.

With the bases still juiced to the gills, Justin would take one for the team as he was hit by pitch, allowing Julian to shimmy home.

Refusing to go quietly into the night, the Lizzies battled back with a run in the top of the fourth to make it a two run game. After leading off the inning with a walk, Liam would advance to third on a stolen base and a wild pitch. An Orioles error would allow Liam to come home to crow.

After issuing a pair of walks, Orioles reliever Julian would dig deep into his reserve tank and strike out three to seal the deal on the O’s comeback victory.
