Beneath a serene canopy of warm May skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Selects defeated the Royal York White 24-9 in seven innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Rookie Ball Select Loop action this evening at Don Russell Park to earn their second victory of the 2018 season.
Here is a brief summary of the proceedings:
- Taking no prisoners, TP uncorked a forty-two hit assault against the White Cardinals to cruise to their second consecutive victory and remain undefeated. Meanwhile, the Royal York offence generated twenty-three hits over seven frames.
- Rohan sparked the TP offensive machine with three sizzling hits that brought home six runs. Completely in the zone, Rohan launched a home run blast in the fourth inning, stroked a single in the fifth, and iced the cake with a double in the sixth.
- In the top of the first, William muscled a RBI double to give TP an early lead.
- The TP offence exploded for seven runs in the sixth to take charge of the game. Theo, Benjamin, Fernando, William and Rohan led the TP attack by driving home key runs during the big inning.
- Jamie, Qayam, William, Benjamin, Noah, Nathan, Fernando, Toby, Rohan, Theo, Beckett, Holden and Henry collected multiple hits against Royal York.
- Benjamin, William, Qayam and Jamie all had four hits to power the TP attack.
- Liam, Ethan, Philip, Braylain, James, Dante, Jasper and Callum had multiple hits to spark the White Cardinals offence.
The TP Rookie Ball Selects (2-0) continue their Grateful Dead road trip on the EBA Rookie Ball Select Loop circuit next Tuesday (May 15) when they venture to Neilson Park to duel the Bloordale Green at 6:30 p.m.
