TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS, THE WOLVERINES BITE TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS AT PELMO PARK
Game Summary composed with file from Andy Marcus
Beneath a layer of hot and hazy skies, the Weston Wolverines defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Selects 14-1 in 3 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Loop action this evening at Pelmo Park.
Here is a brief recap of the proceedings:
- The TP Peewee Selects fell victim to a tough regular season ending game at Pelmo Park.
- While TP was surrendering a bevy of walks that the Wolverines converted into runs, the Peewee Selects were also not hitting the ball consistently to generate any offensive momentum. As a result, TP struggled all evening long in a lopsided loss to Weston.
- Kudos to Simon S. (3) who made a nice catch at second base.
- And another kudos to Camille (29) for hitting the ball hard during her at bats.
- TP probably had the longest rundown in EBA Peewee Select Loop history with a coterie of players combining to make about ten throws before finally tagging the Weston baserunner out between third base and home.
- Despite a rough ending to the 2018 regular season, TP Peewee Select Head Coach Andy Marcus remained optimistic about his team’s chances at the upcoming EBA Peewee Select Tournament: “It’s the playoffs now, and our chance to shine.”
With the conclusion of the regular season, the TP Peewee Selects (2-13) will face the Annette A’s this Friday (August 10) afternoon in their first EBA Peewee Select Tournament round robin playoff game at Millwood Park at 3:30 p.m.
GO! TP! GO!
