DOWN 4-1, THE CRAWFORDS RALLY BACK TO OVERTAKE THE STARS AT DOMINICO FIELD AT CHRISTIE PITS

With the game deadlocked 4-4, Taras (6) delivered a one out RBI single in the bottom of the third inning to bring home the Crawfords winning run over the Stars during a TP House League Baseball Bantam Division game at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

Stars starter Jacob (10) pitched two solid innings where he allowed one run while striking out three Crawfords.

Beneath a canopy of picturesque blue summer skies, the Crawfords edged the Stars 5-4 in 3 ½ innings of Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Midget Division action this afternoon at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

The low scoring proceeding was a fun and well played contest between two talented teams. In the end, the pesky Crawfords rallied from a 4-1 deficit to prevail over the gritty Stars to take home the prize.

In the top half of the first, the Stars jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. After drawing a leadoff walk, Joseph (5) stole his way around the horn to advance to third. On his theft of third base, the Crawfords committed an error that allowed Joseph to motor homeward with the opening run of the game.

After Tom (12) garnered a one out walk and stole his way to third, Mitchell (15) followed with a walk to put two mallards on the pond. A subsequent Crawfords wild pitch would allow Mitchell to advance to second and bring Tom home to crow.

Crawfords reliever Savannah (7) tossed a strong third inning to limit the Stars to only one run while striking out one.

With one aboard, Sasha (13) delivered a RBI double to bring Mitchell home with the bacon.

Crawfords starter Alex (8) would tally a pop out, strikeout and fly out in the first frame to subdue the Stars insurgency.

The Crawfords would reply with a run in the bottom of the first to trim the gap to 3-1. After stroking a leadoff single, Alex would utilize his Grand Theft skills to advance to third. On his steal of the third base, the Stars committed a faux pas that allowed Alex to bolt home with the Crawfords first run.

Stars starter Jacob (10) would ring up a pair of strikeouts and a groundout in the first to quell the Crawfords mutiny.

Crawfords starter Alex would chalk up a pair of pop outs and a groundout in the top of the second to keep the Stars off the scoring ledger.

Taking advantage of a wild pitch, the Stars Mitchell (15) eluded the tag of Crawfords reliever Savannah (7) to score a run in the third inning.

In the bottom of the second, Stars starter Jacob would tally a strikeout and a groundout to keep the Crawfords off the scoresheet. Jacob was also helped out by a sweet 2-6-5 putout by his teammates to erase a wayfaring Crawfords baserunner at second.

The Stars would add a run in the top of the third to increase its lead to 4-1. After reaching base with a leadoff single, Mitchell would take advantage of a series of wild pitches to come home with a run.

Crawfords reliever Savannah (7) would tally a fly out and strikeout in the third to douse the Stars momentum. With two outs, Savannah was also helped out immeasurably with a 9-2 putout by her defence.

The Crawfords would explode for four in the bottom portion of the third to take a 5-4 lead. After Taras (6) singled to lead off the inning, Quingyuan (1) and Savannah followed with a pair of one out walks to load the bases. A passed ball would allow Quingyuan and Savannah to advance respectively to third and second, and bring Taras home with a run.

Crawfords closer Alden (7) mowed down the Stars in 1-2-3 fashion with three K’s in the fourth inning to seal the deal on the victory.

Following a walk by Cooper (4) that reloaded the bases, Stars catcher Tom  and third baseman Simon (7) would combine to erase a wayfaring Quingyuan in a 2-5 rundown between third and home.

After Leandro (10) garnered a one out walk to reload the bases again, Harris (12) was hit by pitch to force home Savannah and make it a one run game.

With the bases still juiced to the gills, Alex drew a bases loaded RBI walk to bring Cooper home with the tying run.

Cool as a cucumber beneath the unrelenting rays of the late afternoon sun, Taras followed with a RBI single to bring Leandro home with the Crawfords go ahead run.

Crawfords closer Alden (7) would retire the Stars in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts in the top of the fourth to seal the deal on the comeback victory.
