Beneath a quilt of hazy and humid summer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Peewee ‘A’ Rep Team defeated the Oakville A’s 8-3 this evening at Bain Park Diamond 2 to earn a semi-final round berth at the 2018 Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Peewee Championship Tournament in Trenton.

TP began its journey at the provincial tourney with a tough 10-5 loss to the London Tecumsehs on Friday afternoon. Leading for most of the game, TP came undone in the bottom half of the sixth inning when the Tecumsehs rallied for eight runs to usurp the reigning Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) champions.

However, with their backs against the wall, TP battled back in dramatic fashion on Saturday to stay alive. Early this morning, Toronto Playgrounds edged Niagara Falls 11-10 in a gruelling affair to earn their first victory at the provincial tourney.

With the wind in their sails, TP defeated the Quinte Royals (the host team) 20-9 earlier this afternoon to pick up their second playoff win.

TP followed that up with an 8-3 victory over the Athletics to advance into the semi-final playoff round of the OBA Provincial Championship.

Toronto Playgrounds will face the Lasalle Titans in a Sunday morning semi-final game at Don Ogden Park at 10 a.m. The Newmarket Hawks will battle Clarington in the other semi-final contest at Bain Park.

Additional updates to follow as they become available.
