Beneath a warm ceiling of blue summer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Selects defeated Leaside Leafs 17-2 at Adams Park this afternoon to advance to the Semi-Final Round of the West Hill Baseball League Rookie Select Tournament.

After a dominating victory over the Leafs, TP finished the round robin portion of the tourney with a 2-1 record and earned a berth in the West Hill Tournament playoff elimination round on Sunday. TP will battle the Martingrove White in a semi-final game tomorrow morning at Adams Park Diamond 2 at 9:30 p.m. The winner of that proceeding will advance to the Championship Game at 1:00 p.m.

TP began its journey at the tourney on Friday night with a convincing 17-2 win over the Newmarket Hawks to earn their first round robin victory. Malito (20) was named TP’s MVP of the game.

In a round robin game played early this morning, the North York Blues defeated TP 12-1 at Adams Park Diamond 2 to hand them their first loss at the tournament. Nico (38) was named TP’s MVP of the game.

Toronto Playgrounds rebounded with authority this afternoon in a do or die affair as they thrashed Leaside 17-2 to win their second round robin game and secure a semi-final playoff berth. For hitting the TP Rookie Ball Selects first home run blast of the 2019 season, Jack (1) was named TP’s Game MVP.
