SLIGHTLTY DIFFERENT NAME TO REFLECT OUR EVOLUTION TO A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.. HOWEVER, IT REMAINS THE SAME GREAT COMMUNITY BASEBALL PROGRAM THAT WE’VE GROWN TO EXPECT AND LOVE AT CHRISTIE PITS.
Toronto Playgrounds Baseball has a new name! Going forward, our new name is the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association.
We feel the new name better reflects the full breadth of our youth baseball offerings. The name change is part of a broader governance renewal project that has culminated in our organization being governed by a legally constituted board of directors, and the adoption of professionally drafted bylaws and regulations.
Even with our brand spanking new moniker, participants in our TP Baseball Family can rest assured that it remains the same great youth community baseball program (House League, Select and Rep) that you’ve grown to expect and love at Christie Pits.
Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors Paul Bagnell shared details of this milestone moment with us this afternoon:
“We are now officially the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA). Our lawyer has informed us the change became official in late August, but an email that usually confirms these changes was not sent to the lawyers. They searched the records this week and saw that the change was made in August. So let’s begin using that name to refer to ourselves.”
Over the next couple of months, participants involved in our cornucopia selection of TPBA programs will notice this name change reflected in our email communications and social media platforms.
Different name….same wonderful baseball organization. Pass the along the Cracker Jack, hot dogs and peanuts. Let’s play ball!
