ALONG WITH BEING THE ICONIC FACE OF THE CITY’S INTERCOUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE BASEBALL (IBL) TEAM SINCE 1969, JACK DOMINICO WAS ALSO A PASSIONATE SUPPORTER OF OUR YOUTH COMMUNITY TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS BASEBALL ASSOCIATION (TPBA) PROGRAM AT CHRISTIE PITS
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of the legendary Jack Dominico, the charismatic owner of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) Toronto Maple Leafs (TML) Baseball Team at Christie Pits.
After purchasing the team in 1969, Jack (along with his beloved late wife, Lynne, who passed away in 2008) was an iconic baseball fixture around Christie Pits for 53 years. Befitting his love of the game, Jack’s Maple Leafs baseball teams won eight IBL championships, including three stellar championships in the 1980’s. It goes without question that he leaves a legacy as the most successful and colourful owner in IBL history.
Jack Dominico was also a passionate supporter of youth community baseball, especially our Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) program at Christie Pits for many decades.
“Jack was a long time supporter of youth baseball in Toronto and across Ontario.”, said TPBA President Bill Evans. “But most specifically at Christie Pits. He will be dearly missed.”
On behalf of all the members of our TP Baseball Family, the TPBA Board of Directors extends its sincerest condolences to the Dominico family for their loss.
Jack was 82 years old.
