THE GREEN BOMBERS UNLEASH A THIRTY-ONE HIT FUSILLADE AGAINST TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS IN THEIR TAKE NO PRISONERS EBA 9U SELECT LOOP VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a warm ceiling of honey suckled summer skies, the Bloordale Green Bombers defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 9U Selects 24-3 in a four inning Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) 9U Select Loop game tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
In the top portion of the first frame, Bloordale Green jumped out to an early 3-0 lead.
After stroking a two out double, Evan (7) advanced to third base on a TP error. Ben (13) followed with a RBI single that allowed Evan to motor home with the opening run of the game.
With a runner on first, Erik (14) stepped up to the dish and muscled a RBI double that brought Ben home with a run.
Jackson (8) followed with a RBI hit that allowed Erik to come home with another Bombers run.
Toronto Playgrounds threatened in the bottom of the first after Adam (11) and Elliot (72) stroked respective singles that put two ducklings on the pond. However, TP was unable to cash in on its opportunities.
Putting the pedal to the metal, Bloordale parlayed a Nasty Canasta eight hit attack into seven runs in the top of the second to extend their upper hand to 10-0.
After a leadoff single by Henry (23), Karams (27) followed with a RBI triple that allowed Henry to come home with a run.
Following suit, Luke (17) delivered a RBI triple to bring Karams homeward.
With Gangnam Style flair, Jack stroked a RBI hit that allowed Luke to come home with another Bombers run.
After a one out single by Evan that put two mallards on the lake, Ben hit into a groundout that moved Evan over to second and brought Jack home with a run.
Following a two out hit by Erik that put two runners on the dance floor, Jackson stroked a clutch RBI hit that allowed Evan to motor home with a run. A TP error on the play allowed Erik and Jackson to move up respectively to third and second base.
For the icing on the cake, Deklyn (25) delivered a grace under pressure two RBI single that brought Erik and Jackson home with two more Bloordale Green runs.
Taking umbrage at their situation, TP stirred to life in the bottom of the second as they scored a run to break the goose egg and trail 10-1.
After back to back one out singles by Ben (8) and Carson (27) that put two aboard, Cordell (99) delivered a seamless RBI hit that brought Ben home with TP’s first run.
Opportunity beckoned in the second frame, but the TP rally fizzled out.
Going for the jugular, Bloordale Green uncorked a nine hit assault in the top half of the third that added a seven spot to their treasure trove as they stretched their plurality to 17-1.
After a leadoff hit by Noel (29), Henry scorched a RBI triple that brought Noel home.
With a runner on third, Karams delivered a RBI triple that allowed Henry to come home with the bacon.
Luke followed with a RBI double to bring Karams home with another Bombers run.
Following a single by Jack that put runners on the corners, William (4) stroked a RBI hit that allowed Luke to some home to roost.
With Bombers on second and first, Evan stroked a RBI single that brought Jack home.
Like a conga line in synchronicity, Ben followed suit with a RBI hit that allowed William to come home with a run.
Subsequently, with two outs and two aboard, Deklyn stroked a RBI single that brought Evan homeward with a carton of Baskin Robbins Icing on the Cake Ice Cream.
Despite a hard hit single by Avi (22) to rally the troops, Toronto Playgrounds was unable to capitalize in the bottom of the third as they went down quietly.
For the pièce de résistance, the Green Bombers added seven insurance runs to their haul in the top of the fourth to extend their lead to 24-1.
With one out and two runners on base, Luke stroked a RBI hit that allowed Noel to blaze home with a run.
With Bloordale runners on third and first, Jack delivered a two RBI triple that brought Karams and Luke home with a pair of runs. A TP error on the play would allow Jack to trot home with another run.
Following a double by William and a single by Evan that put two ducks on the pond, Ben stroked a RBI single to bring William home.
After Erik reached base on a fielder’s choice that erased Evan at third and advanced Ben to second, Jackson delivered a grace under pressure two out two RBI triple that cleared the bases and brought Ben and Erik home with two additional Bombers runs.
Refusing to go quietly into the night, Toronto Playgrounds donned their rally caps in the bottom of the fourth in one final at bat to change their fate.
With two outs and runners on second and first, Ben stroked a single to load the bases. Carson stepped into the batter’s box and muscled a clutch RBI hit to bring Dominic (15) home with a run.
With the bases still packed tighter than a can of sardines, Cordell delivered a RBI single that allowed Cal (3) to motor home with a run that trimmed the gap to 24-3.
But that was as close as TP would come as their dogged rally bid fizzled and the Bloordale Green walked off the field of play with a dominating victory.
