Beneath a warm duvet of cloudy and sunny midsummer skies, the Royal York 15U ‘AA’ Cardinals prevailed 10-1 over the Toronto Playgrounds 15U ‘AA’ Rep in a 6 ½ inning 2023 Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 15U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament Championship Game this afternoon at Connorvale Park.
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal at the TBA tourney, the TP 15U Reps were rewarded with a well deserved invitation to the 2023 Baseball Ontario (OBA) 15U Rep Provincial Championship Tournament for finishing as the ‘finalist’ at the TBA tournament.
With runs at a premium, TP 15U Rep began its journey at the 2023 TBA 15U ‘AA’ Rep tourney with a razor thin 2-1 seven inning round robin game victory over Leaside 15U ‘AA’ on Friday night at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.
On Saturday, TP 15U ‘AA’ Rep prevailed 8-6 over the East York 15U ‘AA’ Bulldogs in a rough and tumble 5 ½ inning midday affair at the Connorvale Park South Diamond to earn its second TBA 15U ‘AA’ round robin game victory.
In a Saturday night contest, the Royal York 15U ‘AA’ Cardinals defeated TP 15U ‘AA’ Rep 5-1 in a six inning round robin game at Connorvale Park.
With a 2-1 round robin record, TP 15U ‘AA’ Rep advanced into the elimination round of the 2023 TBA 15U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament on Sunday with a semi-final elimination game against the North Toronto 15U ‘AA’ Athletics.
Earlier this morning, TP 15U Rep edged the North Toronto 15U A’s 10-9 in a nail biting seven inning TBA 15U ‘AA” Rep Tournament Semi-Final Elimination Game at Ourland Park.
With the game deadlocked 9-9 in the bottom of the seventh, Russell Lee (27) delivered a bases loaded RBI hit that propelled TP 15U Rep to a thrilling walk off victory. With their semi-final win over the Athletics, Toronto Playgrounds punched their ticket into a TBA 15U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament championship playoff game showdown against the Royal York 15U ‘AA’ Cardinals.
On behalf of our entire baseball community, the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to extend its congratulations to the coaches for their time and patience in guiding the talented players of the TP 15U ‘AA’ Rep Team to their finalist showing at the 2023 TBA 15U ‘AA’ Rep Championship Tournament.
The TPBA also wishes to commend all the TP 15U Rep coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of TPBA program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the TBA 15U ‘AA’ Rep Tourney and during the course of the 2023 season.
