DESPITE FALLING SHORT OF THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL TO THE NATIONALS, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS HAD A FUN AND REWARDING LABOUR DAY WEEKEND EXPERIENCE AT THE OBA 11U ‘A’ REP TOURNEY IN NIAGARA FALLS

Beneath a hot tin roof of sunny and humid skies, the North London 11U Nationals prevailed 11-1 over the Toronto Playgrounds 11U ‘A’ Rep in a five inning 2023 Baseball Ontario (OBA) 11U ‘A’ Provincial Tournament Semi-Final Game this morning at M F Ker Park in Niagara Falls.
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, the TP 11U ‘A’ Rep had a fun and rewarding experience as the Toronto Baseball Association’s (TBA) 11U ‘A’ Rep Champions at the OBA Provincial tournament.
Toronto Playgrounds began its journey at the OBA tourney on Friday afternoon with a 6-3 seven inning round robin game loss to the London West 11U Tincaps at Oakes Park.
In a do or die affair, TP 11U ‘A’ Rep rebounded on Friday evening with a take no prisoners five inning 13-3 victory over thw Windsor 11U Hawks at Ker Field to earn their first round robin win that kept them alive at the OBA Rep tournament.
After a good night’s sleep, TP 11U ‘A’ Rep answered the clarion call on Saturday morning as they edged the Peterborough 11U Tigers 4-3 in a seven inning nail biter at Ker Field to capture their second round robin game victory at the tourney.
In a seven inning Saturday afternoon contest where runs came at a premium, TP 11U ‘A’ Rep eked out a razor thin 4-3 win over the Niagara Falls 11U Falcons to earn their third round robin victory at the OBA tourney, With a 3-1 round robin record, TP 11U ‘A’ Rep advanced into the OBA 11U ‘A’ Provincial Tournament playoff elimination round with a semi-final showdown against North London.

On behalf of our entire baseball community, the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to extend their congratulations to Head Coach Marco Bianchi; Assistant Coaches Marty Harden; Jordan Pettle and Dylan Trowbridge; and the players of the TP 11U ‘A’ Rep Team for their hard work and dedication in reaching the semi-final round at the 2023 OBA 11U ‘A’ Rep Tournament.
The TPBA also wishes to commend all the 11U ‘A’ Rep coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the OBA tourney and during the course of the 2023 season.
