Beneath a warm layer of blue and cloudy skies, the Niagara Falls 12U Falcons prevailed 14-7 over the Toronto Playgrounds 12U ‘A’ Rep in a 2023 Baseball Ontario (OBA) 12U ‘A’ Rep Provincial Tournament Semi-Final Game this morning in Chatham.
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, the TP 12U ‘A’ Rep had a fun and rewarding experience as the Toronto Baseball Association’s (TBA) 12U ‘A’ Rep Champions at the OBA Provincial tournament.
Toronto Playgrounds began the OBA 12U ‘A’ Rep tournament on Friday morning with a convincing 11-1 victory over Simcoe 12U Giants to earn its first round robin game victory.
On Friday afternoon, TP 12U ‘A’ Rep experienced its first setback at the Provincial tournament when the London West 12U Tincaps defeated them 9-1 to hand TP its first loss.
With its journey at the tourney on the line, TP rebounded on Saturday morning with a 13-8 win over the Waterloo 12U (Tier 2) Tigers to capture its second OBA tourney round robin victory.
In a riveting back and forth round robin nail biter on Saturday afternoon, TP 12U ‘A’ Rep edged the Lasalle 12U Gold Titans 8-7 in an epic seven inning affair. With the game deadlocked 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh frame, Gio C delivered a walk off win for TP with a RBI single that propelled TP 12U ‘A’ Rep into a semi-final round showdown against Niagara Falls.
On behalf of our entire baseball community, the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to extend their congratulations to Head Coach Zachary Levinsky; Assistant Coaches Ben Goldstein; Jorge De Souza; Mark Steinberg and the players of the TP 12U ‘A’ Rep Team for their hard work in reaching the semi-final round at the 2023 OBA 12U ‘A’ Rep Tournament.
The TPBA also wishes to commend all the 12U Rep coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the OBA tourney and during the course of the 2023 season.
