Beneath a checkered blanket of overcast and sunny skies, Annette 11U prevailed 17-8 over the Toronto Playgrounds 11U Red in a 6 ½ inning Brampton Minor Baseball Incorporated (BMBI) 11U Select Tournament Championship Game this afternoon at Sesquicentennial Park Diamond 1
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, it goes without saying that all the TP players, coaches, parents and family members in attendance had an extremely fun and rewarding experience at the BMBI tournament this weekend in Brampton.
Taking care of business in their opening game on Friday evening at the tourney, TP 11U Red defeated the Milton 11U Mets 11-4 in a six inning battle to earn their first BMBI victory.
After a good night’s rest, TP 11U Red sailed to a 12-2 win over Annette 11U in a four inning game on Saturday morning to chalk up their second victory at the tourney.
On Saturday afternoon, TP 11U Red put the pedal to the metal as they defeated the Brampton 11U Royals 14-5 in a 4 ½ inning affair to earn their third victory at the BMBI tournament,
With an unblemished 3-0 record, TP 11U Red won their respective pool and advanced to Sunday’s semi-final round at the BMBI tourney.
In a tooth and nail dogfight earlier this morning, TP 11U Red edged the York 11U Green 8-7 in a dramatic seven inning BMBI 11U Select Tournament semi-final elimination game at Sesquicentennial Park Diamond 2.
With the game deadlocked 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh frame, Paul (77) and Kaden (0) led off the inning with back to back singles that put TP runners at second and first base. Seizing the moment, Cordell (23) followed with a RBI double that brought Paul home with TP 11U Red’s winning run.
With their hard fought semi-final win over the River Dogs, TP 11U Red punched their ticket into a BMBI 11U Select Tournament Championship Game showdown against Annette 11U.
In an exclusive TPBA Website interview, TP 11U Red Head Coach Sother Edouard was asked to express his personal feelings and thoughts about his team’s solid performance at the BMBI tourney:
“TP 11U Red started red hot at the Brampton Tournament, going 3-0 in the BMBI pool round to make it to the semi-final round. They prevailed in a hard fought game against York 11U Green to make it to the final. The players gave all they had to be the BMBI 11U Select Tournament finalists against our good friends, Annette 11U. The TP 11U Red coaches are proud of how much the players are improving this season. The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to congratulate Head Coach Sother Edouard; Assistant Coaches Allan Eisen; Billy Duke; Keith Lobo and Aaron Imahori; Team Manager Heather Bernknopf; and the players of the TP 11U Red Team for their finalist showing at the 2024 BMBI 11U Select Tournament.
