Happy Canada Day To One And All In The TP Baseball Family

As the TP House League Baseball program shuts down for a few days for the Canada Day celebration, the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee would like to wish all the coaches, players and parents involved with us a very Happy Canada Day!

School's out and the the hazy and lazy days of summer are finally here.  There's still a lot of baseball to be played in the weeks ahead.  And many other things to do if one challenges oneself to fill the time during the dog days of summer. Life's too short...so make the most of it.

Have a celebrated summer!

TP Information Bulletin: Rainy Day Procedures

PARENTS AND PLAYERS ADVISED TO CHECK THE TP HOTLINE OR THE TP BASEBALL WEBSITE FOR GAME AND PRACTICE UPDATES ON DAYS OF UNSTABLE WEATHER

It seems that there were some unhappy players and parents in our TP Baseball Family yesterday regarding our decision to cancel the games and practices scheduled for Tuesday, June 22.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to let everyone know that it's important in cases like yesterday to check the TP Weather Hotline or our website even if the rain appears to have stopped to ascertain whether their game or practice will proceed as scheduled or be cancelled.

Unfortunately, our baseball diamonds at Christie Pits and Bickford Park do not drain really quickly. In cases like yesterday, when there has been a heavy rainfall throughout the day, water pools form in various places on the baseball diamonds and the deep puddles make the fields unplayable.

The TP Baseball Committee knows that this is discouraging for most of the kids (and parents) who look forward to playing...it's discouraging to us too! We make every attempt to get the games and practices in, but we don't want to jeopardize anyone's well being by playing in conditions that are hazardous, unsafe and/or unreasonable. The TP Baseball Committee makes an expert assessment on field conditions on all days when there is unstable rainy weather and we communicate our decision via the hotline and website at least 45-60 minutes before the scheduled start time of the game or practice.

So, if there has been any rainy unsettled weather earlier in the day, please call the TP Weather Hotline (416-392-1914, press 4) or check/bookmark our website (www.torontoplaygrounds.ca) on your computer or cellphone web browser to get the latest weather updates on your games or practices before heading out to the park.

If you have any questions regarding this bulletin, please email us at tpbaseball@gmail.com.

Happy Father’s Day To One And All In The TP Baseball Family

Harris (11) with Owls Coach and Dad Bill Evans.

To say that today is Father's Day is really an understatement.

The reality of parenting is that EVERY DAY is Father's Day. To love and nurture a child is a monumental task with great responsibility. Through good times and rough ones, we try to be perfect in all our actions and decisions. But the reality is that we never are.

The important goal is that we strive to do the best job that we can. To impart the best of what we are into our children. Such is the rite of passage and life itself.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes all our fathers in the TP Baseball Family who volunteer as coaches and those who signed up their children in our baseball program a very Happy Father's Day!
