Mikel (1) of the Lizzies pictured just before his triple in the top of the second inning. He went 3 for 3 at the plate (3 AB; 3 H; 1 R; 3 RBI) and pitched two solid innings (2 IP; 1 H; 2 ER; 2 K's).

On a very humid evening down at Christie Pits, the teams in the Peewee Division entered their third week of regular season play.

In a nailbiter, the Red Sox edged the Lizzies 10-9 in four innings of play at Diamond # 3.

With one out and the score tied 9-9 in the bottom of the fourth, the Lizzies catcher [Sam (12)] tried to pickoff the baserunner at third [Cooper (8)] . However, the catcher’s throw sailed high and Cooper trotted home with the winning run.

Harry (9) of the Red Sox pitched a strong first inning (1 IP; 0 H; 1 ER; 1 K).

It was a seesaw type of game all evening long as both teams exchanged leads several times. In the bottom of the third with the Lizzies ahead 8-5, the Red Sox rallied with four runs to take the lead 9-8. However, the Lizzies tied the game on Sajith’s (3) clutch single in the top of the fourth which brought home Mikel (1) from third.

Kudos to Mikel (1) of the Lizzies who went 3 for 3 at the dish with a triple (3 AB; 3 H; 1 R; 3 RBI). Mikel also pitched two great innings (2 IP; 1 H; 2 ER; 1 W; 2K’s). Additional kudos to Sam (12) of the Lizzies who went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double (3 AB; 2H; 2 R; 1 RBI); Harry (9) of the Red Sox who pitched a strong first inning (1 IP; 0 H; 1 ER; 1 K) and Sarah (2) of the Red Sox who gamely bounced back and returned to the pitcher’s mound after taking an errant liner to the forehead.

On Diamond # 2, the Orioles nipped the Royals 8-7 in the early game. Meanwhile, the Yankees prevailed 12-8 over the Jays in the nightcap.
