MOSQUITO SELECTS WINS THEIR THIRD GAME OF THE SEASON

The Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Select Team defeated Martingrove (# 2) 13-10 this evening at Richview Park for their third win of the season.

Arlo (7) pitched a solid 1 1/3 innings for the victory while allowing three runs and striking out two.

Back to back two run doubles hit respectively by Marcus (15) and Ben A. (4) in the top of the second inning broke the game open as Toronto Playgrounds jumped out to an 8-1 lead. It was a lead the “cardiac squad” would not surrender.

In a post game press conference, TP Mosquito Select Coach Michael Godel said, “While the final score gave the impression that the game looked close, Toronto Playgrounds was never really threatened after the offensive explosion in the second.”

Here are some of the highlights of the game:

  • Arlo (7) pitched a solid 1 1/3 innings for the victory while allowing only three earned runs and striking out two.
  • First time call up Jayden pitched a spirited 1 2/3 innings allowing only one earned run and striking out four.
  • John Eric (24) made a spectacular “climb the ladder” catch at third base off Martingrove’s best hit ball of the game.
  • Campbell (19) closed out the game to preserve the much deserved victory.
  • Mosquito Select Team Captain Simon (1) was absent from the game and was reported to be in Montreal “banging on the sticks” with the Sam Roberts Band.

The TP Mosquito Selects (3-6) play their next game against Martingrove (1) on Sunday, July 24 at Christie Pits Diamond # 3 (6:30 p.m.).
