Underneath humid skies this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Lizzies trumped the Royals 7-2 in four innings of Peewee Division play.

Here are the game highlights:

  • Four Lizzies pitchers neutralized the Royals offense as they combined to surrender only two runs over four innings. Marcus (9) and Jayden (7) were particularly good as they both pitched scoreless innings. In fact, Marcus struck out the side.
  • The Lizzies offense was very effective as well with all eleven batters in their lineup reaching base.
  • John (3) and Harry (6) of the Lizzies hit doubles.
  • Baxter (5) of the Lizzies hit a RBI single. Kudos to Baxter for delivering his first hit in two plus years!
  • Evan (12) of the Royals had a strong day at the plate with a hit, walk, and three stolen bases. Evan also pitched a solid third inning in allowin only one Lizzies run.
  • Zoe (10) of the Royals ran her consecutive RBI game streak to two games with a clutch ribbie in the fourth.
  • Roberto (8) made a great defensive play for the Royals in snaring a SCREAMING line drive off the bat of a Lizzies hitter.
  • The highlight (or lowlight) of the game came in the top of the third when the Lizzies infield defense decided to try the hidden ball trick on the Royals. The Lizzies inital attempt at first base was stymied when the TP umpires determined that if the first baseman has the ball, then the umpire can’t put the ball into play. Amazingly, the subsequent attempt at second base worked!
