MOSQUITO > DAY 8: Cubs Top Lizzies 6-3

CUBBIES SCORE THREE IN THE FIFTH TO BREAK 3-3 TIE TO WIN AND ADVANCE TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Jack (9) drew a bases loaded RBI walk in the top of the fifth inning that brought in Jaleelah (5) from third base with the Cubs winning run over the Lizzies at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

Beneath beautifiul skies at Diamond 3 this evening, the Cubs prevailed 6-3 over the Lizzies in a well contested five inning semi-final game to advance to Thursday’s Mosquito Division Championship Game against the Pirates at Christie Pits.

With the score tied 3-3, the bases loaded, and nobody out, Jack (9)  drew a RBI walk in the top of the fifth that brought in Jaleelah (5) with the Cubs winning run. Ahead 4-3, the Cubs added two more insurance runs to close out the inning.

Refusing to concede defeat, the Lizzies loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth in a feverish comeback attempt. However, Cubs closer Max (7) eventually sealed the deal for the win.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to commend Lizzies Head Coach John Rowe, Assistant Coaches Sam Perri and Rebecca Wells Jopling, and all the Lizzies players on a great season. Way to go, Lizzies!

The Cubs (3) will host the Pirates (5) in the Mosquito championship final on Thursday, September 13 at Christie Pits Diamond  2 at 6:00 p.m.

Players and Parents are reminded that the championship final will be five innings in length and the four run mercy will be in effect. Extra innings will be played if necessary.
