Game Post composed with file from Vincent Lynch.

Below cool evening skies, the Giants prevailed over the Lizzies 9-6 in three innings of Mosquito Division play at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here are the highlights:

  • In the top of the first inning, the Giants jumped out to an early 4-0 lead by exercising great patience at the plate. Six walks followed by a key base hit by Leo (7) were used to produce the four Giants runs.
  • The Lizzies answered back with four in the bottom of the first to tie the affair 4-4.
  • In the top of the second, the Giants got it going when Rory (11) whacked a RBI double to bring Jeremy (15) home and extend the lead to 5-1.
  • The Giants shutdown the Lizzies in the bottom of the second with some spectacular pitching by Leo (7).
  • In the third, the Giants started the inning with three walks. James (4) followed and drove in a pair with a 2 RBI single. After a couple more walks, Ethan (2) drove in the fourth and final run of the inning.
  • The Lizzies made a game attempt to come back in the bottom of the third, but was stopped on a Gold Glove defensive gem by Giants shortstop Ethan (5), who scooped up a grounder and threw it to third baseman Rory (11) for the force out.
