THE ROYALS CAGE THE O’s TO EARN THE CROWN JEWELS OF SWEET VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Post composed with file from Michael Goldsmith and Peter Roy.
Beneath the lights on a cool and breezy summer night, the Royals defeated the Orioles 12-0 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here are the highlights:
- With the dog days of summer upon us, the player numbers were a tad uneven tonight with the Orioles missing a bunch of regulars and fielding a younger lineup.
- The Royals were led by some strong pitching from Jian (15), Niall (9), Rory (6) and Maxwell (13) who combined to throw a shutout against a potent O’s batting lineup.
- O’s closer Maxwell struck out three Orioles to seal the deal in the fourth.
- The Royals received some solid defensive contributions from Julian (10) and Cormac (8).
- Royals catchers Cormac, Jian and Angus (11) were solid behind the plate. Angus threw out an Orioles base runner at second who was attempting to steal the base, with Julian making a nice tag on the wayfaring O for the out.
- Maxwell continued his great season for the Royals at the dish with two hits.
- Simon ripped a double to deep centre field.
- Rory and Niall chipped in with some crucial hits to combust the Royals attack.
- Orioles pitcher Jonathan (1) threw a three up and three down no hitter inning.
