MOSQUITO > Rays and Royals Tie 5-5


IN A WELL PLAYED AFFAIR, THE DEVIL RAYS AND MAJESTIC ROYALS BATTLE TO A DRAW IN THEIR MOSQUITO DIVISION SEASON OPENER AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under a canopy of tranquil Spring skies, the Rays and Royals battled to a 5-5 draw in three innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

Here are the highlights:

  • The opening game for the Rays and Royals was played on a lovely spring evening. The crowd and players were excited!
  • It was close game at the beginning. In the first inning, with Royals starter Jackson (8) on the mound, the Rays put up one run to stake themselves to an early 1-0 lead.
  • In the bottom of the first, the Royals tied it up after with a walk by Jade (1), who managed to steal second, third and then home!
  • The second inning was a quiet frame with both teams not able to score.
  • Royals reliever Zen (7) tossed the second and had a clean inning.
  • The Devil Rays came out swinging in the third and put up four runs to take a 5-1 advantage.
  • However, the Majestic Royals answered back with four in the bottom half of the third to even the proceedings 5-5.
  • The Royals rally was capped off with James (6) hitting the tying RBI.
  • The game finished in a tie with all the Rays players contributing.
  • There were a number of key defensive plays made in the field by the Rays and a number of great batting opportunities.
  • Rays pitching was key in keeping the Royals to a tie.
  • The Rays look forward to their next game!
  • An exciting and well played first game of the 2015 season.
