Under a ceiling of hot and humid skies, the Rockies defeated the Pirates 8-4 in 3 ½ innings of Peewee Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here is a Pirates log of the proceedings:

  • The Pirates jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
  • However, the Rockies roar back with four in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Excellent pitching from both the Bucs and Rockies in the second results in neither team scoring during the inning.
  • In the top of the third, the Pirates score another run to get within two.
  • But Rockies respond with four more in the bottom of the third to pull away to an 8-2 lead.
  • The Buccaneers rally to score another two in the top of the fourth but that’s as close as they get. Final score: Rockies 8  Pirates 4
